Thanks to all Board members for attending Monday’s meeting. While it got to be a little lengthy, I
appreciate everyone’s patience. Once
again, if you have questions over anything that was discussed feel free to give
us a call.
Just like last year, I was part of a presentation to the
District Governor of Rotary on Monday.
As head of the Junior Rotarian committee, I spoke about four main
things:
1. How
Jr. Rotarian’s are invited and encouraged to get involved in the Local
Community Service Projects Committee and other related committees.
2. How
we ensure high school seniors are aware of Davenport Rotary Scholarships.
3. How
high school student lead the club in singing the National Anthem monthly at our
meetings.
4. Our
RYLA program and how we sent two students to the youth leadership conference
last year and will do so again this year.
Our Alum update on Fr. Pat Barnes went out this week. If you didn’t have a chance to see it check
it out here: http://us6.campaign-archive2.com/?u=fadb9cf083c38b3e45ff9ab36&id=5aeba5ad76
We had our first meeting with Sr. Joan and Mike Poster since
the veto by Mayor Gluba was upheld by the council. We will be moving forward
with an alternative plan for the construction of the stadium, which currently
means we are discussing, researching, planning and looking at every detail of
this partnership. Details will need to be ironed out, but this has the
potential to strengthen our partnership with St. Ambrose.
On the facilities side, much of this week has been spent taking
care of the little details in our classrooms. Our crew has been working very
hard to make sure we get every request taken care of, no matter how big or
small. Thanks to those guys for all of
their hard work.
Just a reminder - both the Century Club Steak Fry (which
will be held on Saturday this year) and the football scrimmage with Pleasant
Valley are this weekend. Hope to see you all there.
Have a great weekend!
Andy
